Investing in the Next Generation: Colony Ridge Team at ILTexas Career Day
On Friday, March 6, 2025, the ILTexas MSG Ramirez campus — located within the communities developed by Colony Ridge — came alive with the kind of energy that only comes from young minds encountering something truly extraordinary for the first time. Career Day brought together an exceptional lineup of local professionals, first responders, and community partners, all gathered with one shared purpose: to open doors for the next generation. Colony Ridge was honored to be among them.

Hands-On Learning in Their Own Backyard
Three members of the Colony Ridge construction team made their way to the MSG Ramirez campus ready to give students a firsthand look at the world of construction — not through a textbook, but through the real machinery they operate every day on the job.
Students had the opportunity to get up close with heavy construction equipment, climb up into the cab, and see exactly what the view looks like from the operator's seat. For many of these elementary-aged students, it was their first time experiencing the scale and complexity of the machines that shape the ground beneath their community. The Colony Ridge team shared their own professional journeys — what drew them to the field, what the work involves day to day, and what it takes to build a career in construction.
A Day Filled with Extraordinary Moments
Colony Ridge was in impressive company. Career Day featured a remarkable collection of presenters from across the region, each bringing their own brand of wonder to the campus.
The West Liberty County Fire and Rescue team gave students the chance to try on real firefighting gear — helmets, jackets, and all — offering a tangible sense of what it means to serve on the front lines of emergency response. The Liberty County Constable's Office brought law enforcement vehicles and the kind of up-close access that leaves a lasting impression on young students curious about careers in public safety.
And then there was the moment that may have stopped every student in their tracks: the HCA Houston Healthcare AirLife team arrived by helicopter, landing at the school and giving students an extraordinary look inside the aircraft — stretchers, medical equipment, and all. For a group of elementary schoolers, witnessing a medical helicopter touch down at their school is the kind of memory that doesn't fade.

Why This Matters
Career Day events like this one do something significant. They plant seeds. A student who climbs into a construction cab, tries on a firefighter's helmet, or peers inside a medical helicopter walks away with a wider sense of what is possible. They begin to connect their own curiosity and interests to real careers, real people, and real pathways forward.
For Colony Ridge Communities, participation in this event reflects a genuine commitment to the communities it has developed — not just in terms of infrastructure and amenities, but in terms of investment in the people who live, learn, and grow there. The families who have built their lives across Colony Ridge's subdivisions are neighbors, and their children are the future of this region.
